From Maternity Care at the Katena Center for Mother and Child to our top-notch Pediatric Department, the Pediatric Team at Saint Clare’s will work to make your child comfortable and your family at ease.
Saint Clare’s has a certified Pediatrician on-site 24 hours a day to consult on any kind of emergency. Your child will receive excellent care from a Pediatrician that can be bed side in less than five minutes in the Emergency Department, Pediatric Unit, or Newborn Nursery. All Saint Clare’s Neonatologists are board certified and provide 24/7/365 coverage for patients from birth to 28 days. If mom requires lactation counseling, we can provide that as well. No matter the condition, a consult can occur quickly so your child can begin to heal.
The children in the care of Saint Clare’s Pediatric Team are cared for by well-qualified and highly-educated nurses in all areas of pediatrics. The nurse-to-patient ratio in the Pediatric Department is four-to-one so your child will have the care they need by nurses who understand that a hospital stay is scary for a child. They will make sure your child feels better – inside and out.
If your child needs to be admitted to Saint Clare’s, private pediatric physicians have the ability to admit directly through the Emergency Department or the Pediatric Hospitalists. Even if your child needs outpatient services, the Pediatric Specialists affiliated with Saint Clare’s will make sure your child gets whatever care your child needs.
The entire Pediatric Team at Saint Clare’s provides quality care with a focus on family. As a community-based hospital, you can be close to your child while they receive treatment and still be close to home and work. Our kid-friendly space that includes modern private rooms and play areas will make your child’s hospital stay less frightening for both parent and child. The members of the Pediatric Department offer a multi-disciplinary approach and work together as a true team so your child receives the exact care they require.
If your child needs specialized treatment for conditions such as acute asthma, infections, pediatric SDS, or pain management, we will have specialists at your child’s bedside. You can also arrange for pediatric orthopedic treatment, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy all within Saint Clare’s Center for Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine. Our multi-disciplinary approach ensures that your child will be seen quickly by the right medical professional and receive whatever care is needed so your child can begin to heal.
If your child needs care from a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon, Saint Clare’s can provide a consult right away. We also provide same-day pediatric surgery for patients that require surgery for tonsil removal, or ear tube insertion.
Some children face troubles that require specialized counseling to cope with mental and emotional issues. The team Saint Clare’s is especially aware of the importance of a child’s mental well-being. If your child requires behavior health services, our Children’s Crisis Intervention Services can help your child understand what they are feeling and develop coping mechanisms based on their needs. This can also be an especially challenging time for parents. The Saint Clare’s Psychiatric Emergency Services Team can help your entire family understand what is happening and how to work together to help your child get on the road to mental health.

Spiritual Care: Spiritual Services encompasses a full range of services, including lending a caring ear, support in accepting a new diagnosis, help dealing with the illness of your child, and recognizing and responding to God’s will in greater peace and joy.
Family Support Center of New Jersey: The Family Support Center is a clearinghouse of up-to-date information on a national, state and local family support programs, services and disabilities.
Family Support Organizations: FSOs are family-run, county-based organizations that provide direct family-to-family peer support, education, advocacy and other services to family members of children with emotional and behavioral problems.
