Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists
Obstetricians may refer women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, to our department of Maternal Fetal Medicine. Our specialists provide perinatology
consultations, high-resolution ultrasound studies, genetic counseling, genetic diagnostic procedures, and more. With state-of-the-art testing, imaging, and
charting technologies, our comprehensive team of Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, are equipped to give our high-risk patients comprehensive, compassionate, and personalized prenatal care.
Education and Support
Childbirth Education Classes are offered at different times throughout the year to support you before, during and after
baby arrives. Classes are offered online and in-person. Some classes offered include:

Your Team
Your team at the Katena Center includes expert obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, childbirth educators, and highly-trained nurses to provide the necessary tests, services, education, and resources essential to new mothers and growing families alike. We also offer a full slate of Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists – including a board-certified perinatologist, genetic counselors, and perinatal sonographers – to ensure high-risk pregnancies are handled with care.
Classes
We are offering childbirth e-classes and breastfeeding e-classes online. In addition to the e-classes we are also offering in-person childbirth classes.

Companion Rules
- Patients who have COVID-19, have tested positive for COVID-19, or are under investigation for COVID-19 must remain masked at all times.
- A known COVID-19 companion will not be permitted into labor and delivery or the post-partum unit.
- One designated companion for the entire stay in labor and deliver and postpartum.
- Designated companion may come and leave to go home. You may go to the cafeteria or vending machines, as well as order outside food to be picked up at the front desk of the hospital.
- Designated companion must use the bathroom in the assigned labor and delivery room.
- Designated companion will be provided meals by the hospital.
- The designated companion can stay with the patient until they are moved to the post-partum unit. THE SAME POLICIES WILL APPLY TO POSTPARTUM, AS APPLY TO LABOR AND DELIVERY – Designated companion will remain in the mom’s room with the door closed.

Please read the instructions contained in the cover letter before you complete the form. You can fill out the form on this page by clicking on the text icon in the PDF menu on the top right (image example to the right). Please print the form and submit as soon as possible prior to your delivery date.

Visitation Policy
Mother/Baby
- Postpartum patients may designate or exclude visitors of their choosing while in the Postpartum Unit.
- It is at the discretion of the mother whether or not to have the baby in the room during visitation hours.
- Open Visitation Hours
- From 2:00pm-7:00pm, 7 days a week
- Companions may come and go at any time. Siblings may visit during regular visiting hours.
- Provided that visitation does not interfere with the care of the patient, or at the discretion of the nurse. There are no restrictions to the number of visitors a patient may have during open visitation hours, however only two (2) at the bedside at a time. The father and siblings will not count as visitors.
- All visitors must wash their hands using the available hand sanitizer prior to entering the patients’ room.
- Quiet Time
- From 1:00pm-2:00pm the Maternity Department participates in a quiet time for the mother and newborn. The mother may request to limit visiting during these hours.
Additonal visitation is based on the needs of the patient as determined by the clinical care team.
Labor and Delivery
- Companion is allowed at the bedside at any time during labor.
- Second visitor is allowed upon approval of the attending Obstetrician.
- No children are allowed to visit in labor and delivery.
