Thyroid Cancer Treatment and Technology
Our cancer care experts, including accomplished radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, ultrasound sonographers, and surgeons, provide access to the most advanced procedures and technology available, including:
Surgery
If your healthcare clinician determines that surgery to remove the tumor and all or part of the remaining thyroid gland is the best treatment option for you, Saint Clare’s offers our healing touch with the most advanced equipment available to our patients. Surgery may be combined with radioactive iodine therapy, radiation therapy, and/or chemotherapy.
Radioactive Iodine Therapy
Radioactive Iodine Therapy known as I-131, may be used to destroy cancerous tissue that was not removed during surgery, or to treat thyroid cancer that has spread to lymph nodes and other parts of the body.
State-of-the-art equipment
The Center for Cancer Care utilizes high quality imaging and diagnostic equipment including:
- Quality U/S guided FNA thyroid biopsies
- 4D parathyroid cat scan
- Thyroseq FNA Analysis
- Radioidine I-131 ablation therapy
- Pet scan imaging
Under the direction of Dr. Neil Freeman, Chairman of the Radiology Department at Saint Clare’s, and Director of the nuclear medicine program, the Thyroid Cancer Treatment Center focuses on a team approach to treatment.
