Saint Clare’s Health named to the Lown Hospitals Index Honor Roll and ranked among New Jersey’s Top 5 for Social Responsibility

Denville, N.J. July 2, 2026 — Saint Clare’s Health, a member of Prime Healthcare has been named to the 2026 Lown Hospitals Index Honor Roll, recognizing it among the nation’s most socially responsible hospitals. Only 160 out of more than 3,600 U.S. hospitals achieved this distinction by earning top grades across measures of health equity, value, and patient outcomes.

Ranked No. 4 in New Jersey and among the top 3% of hospitals nationally for Social Responsibility, Saint Clare’s Health also ranked Top 5 in New Jersey for Value of Care and Avoiding Overuse. The health system earned an overall “A” grade in Social Responsibility and received “A” grades in Health Equity, Value of Care, Patient Outcomes, Clinical Outcomes, Community Benefit, Inclusivity, Avoiding Overuse, and Cost Efficiency, reflecting its commitment to delivering exceptional, equitable, and patient-centered care.

The Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility is the only national ranking that evaluates hospitals on measures of social responsibility, including health equity, value of care, and patient outcomes. The Index examines how equitably care is delivered, how well hospitals invest in their communities, and whether patients receive high-value care that avoids unnecessary procedures, in addition to traditional measures such as clinical outcomes and patient safety. More than 50 metrics contribute to a hospital’s overall score.

The recognition places Saint Clare’s Health among the highest-performing hospitals in New Jersey and underscores the organization’s commitment to delivering exceptional care, outstanding value, and positive outcomes for the communities it serves.

“At Saint Clare’s Health, our mission is to provide exceptional care that improves lives and strengthens the communities we serve. To be ranked among the top five hospitals in New Jersey overall, and in both Value of Care and Avoiding Overuse, reflects the extraordinary work of our team and our unwavering focus on delivering the right care, at the right time, for every patient. We are proud of this recognition and even more proud of what it means for the people who entrust us with their care,” said Brian L. Ulery, Chief Executive Officer, Saint Clare’s Health.

Saint Clare’s Health’s recognition by the Lown Hospitals Index adds to the health system’s growing list of national honors for quality, patient safety, and clinical excellence. Saint Clare’s Health also boasts awards including US News Best Hospitals for Maternity Care; a Leapfrog “A” Grade for Spring of 2026; Healthgrades distinctions including Treatment of Diabetic Emergencies, Hip Fracture Treatment, America’s 50 Best Outpatient Prostate Care, and America’s 100 Best for Prostate Surgery; the American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines distinctions for Atrial Fibrillation, Coronary Artery Disease, Heart Failure, Stroke, Type 2 Diabetes, and the Commitment to Quality Award; and ACEP accreditation for Geriatric Emergency Departments.

“Honor Roll status is earned by hospitals meeting the highest standards across the breadth of our metrics,” said Vikas Saini, MD, president of the Lown Institute. “They aren’t just clinically excellent; they’re deeply committed to the communities they serve and work hard to ensure all patients get the care they need.”
