Patient Accommodations Information
Your Room
All of our patient rooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized by our Environmental Services Department, who work around-the-clock to ensure patient areas are clean and comfortable. If you have any specific concerns, please do not hesitate to tell your nurse, who will contact the appropriate people. We will respond to your concerns promptly.
Your Meals
At Saint Clare’s, we believe that meals are an important part of your treatment and we want you to be happy with your selections. To ensure your satisfaction, room service dining is available at Denville Hospital and Dover Hospital. Please call the extensions listed below to place an order anytime between 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., 7 days a week. If you are unable to place the order yourself, a representative of Dining Services is available 7 days a week from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. They will take your menu selections, learn about your food preferences or allergies, resolve any concerns you may have with your meals, and assist with any questions you may have. To reach them, please call:
Denville………………. x 6632
Dover…………………. x 8220
Telephone, Television and Music
Arrangements for a telephone and television are made for every patient at the time of admission based on personal preference. Only hand-held music devices with earphones should be used.
The following are details about phone usage:
- For local calls – dial “9” followed by the local number.
- For long-distance calls and local toll calls, you will be connected to a third-party billing operator. Non-local calls will be billed to a credit card, billed as a collect call or billed to your home phone number.
- Out of respect for other patients, phone calls in your room should be limited to the hours between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.
- Please ask your nurse or other staff member for help.
Please ask your care clinician to contact interpreter services if you so need.
Cell Phones, Laptops and Photographic Equipment
The use of cell phones, laptops and other personal communication and electronic equipment is limited in the hospital due to the potential for interference with sensitive medical equipment. Please observe signs posted throughout the organization.
When using cell phones, please practice cell phone courtesy and be very mindful of discussing confidential issues in public areas. Laptops should only be operated on battery power so that electrical cords do not interfere with patient equipment or create a tripping hazard. For the privacy of our patients, the use of photographic equipment – camera, digital, video, cell phones with camera capabilities – is restricted to specific areas of the hospital.
Free wireless internet access is available at the Denville, Dover, and Parsippany Commons campuses.
Mail, Flowers and Gifts
All mail, flowers and gifts addressed to you will be delivered directly to your room. Flowers are not permitted in the Critical Care or the Special Care Nursery Unit and may not be permitted for patients with certain conditions. If you have questions, check with your caregiver. If you wish to send mail to someone outside the hospital, please affix the appropriate amount of postage and give it to your caregiver.
Many people, including staff, have life-threatening allergies to latex, so please order mylar as opposed to latex balloons.
Special Communication Needs
If you or a family member has vision, hearing or other impairments for which you have special needs, please let us know. We have special technology designed to provide real-time sign language and audio-based bilingual interpreting, which can be brought to the bedside.
